Shah Rukh Khan wows Maratha Mandir yet again, this time as ‘Dilwale’

Maratha Mandir knows only one religion, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge. So, when their ‘presiding deity’, Shah Rukh Khan and his onscreen lover Kajol decided to pay the single screen theatre a visit, devotees’ (fans) came in thronging just to get a glimpse of their favourite jodi. The serpentine queues almost blocked the road outside leading to a heavy traffic jam but none seemed to mind for it is not everyday that you get to see one of India’s biggest matinee idols in flesh and blood. While the crowd and fans inside the cinema hall waited with bated breath, King Khan’s convoy zoomed in at around 8.30 pm only to be greeted by a deafening roar. Inside, setting the tone right were Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon, both of whom danced to a medley of SRK-Kajol numbers. Finally, SRK arrived on stage sending the screen hall occupants spiralling into a crazy euphoria.

‘Gerua’, the song featuring the evergreen pair of SRK and Kajol was eventually released and it transported one back to the ‘Sooraj Hua Madham’ (from ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’) days. The breathtaking locales and the sizzling chemistry between SRK and Kajol, had the audience whistling incessantly. Given his penchant for promoting his movies innovatively, Shah Rukh Khan this time invited media personnel’s to get their better halves for the song launch and handed them an opportunity to ask a question. And there were many takers. From a young girl quizzing SRK about the secret behind his sizzling chemistry with Kajol to a guy asking SRK to dole out tips to woo a girl he likes to an Indian Navy Officer (married to a journalist) asking the actor if ‘Dilwale’ will replace DDLJ and run at Maratha Mandir for the next 20 years, the press conference witnessed a different Q& A flavour. SRK, on his part, was at his wittiest best, at times mock warning his male fans to not shout ‘I Love You’.

Music director Pritam provided the musical frills by belting out a few songs from Dilwale. The night however belonged to one man, SRK who ended it on a high note by extending his arms and inviting everyone to fall in love with him and his film again.
