Airlift box office collections starrer reached the coveted Rs 100 crore club, thereby giving Akshay Kumar yet another big hit. This mark has become a must for every big film in Bollywood. In this report, we take a look at some of the biggest hits that have reached the Rs 100 crore mark segregating them on the basis of the number of days taken to get there.
While Shahrukh Khan starrer Chennai Express and Hrithik Roshan starrer Krissh 3 box office collections were the fastest films to reach the 100 cr mark, in just 4 days, Aamir Khan has his 3 Idiots in the club followed by Salman starrer Ek Tha Tiger and Ranbir starrer Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Indra Kumar’s adult comedy Grand Masti also made a surprise entry into the club.
While Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela entered the Rs 100 cr club in 10 days with a collection of Rs 100.2 cr. Ending 2013 on a high was the third installment in the Dhoom franchise, Dhoom 3, that managed to cross the 100 crore barrier in just three days, collecting Rs 107.61 crore. With such massive collections, Dhoom 3 toppled the Shahrukh Khan starrer Chennai Express and Hrithik Roshan starrer Krissh 3 to emerge as the new record holder. In 2015, the first film to open the roster for the Rs 100 Crore Club was the Salman Khan starrer Jai Ho, which crossed the Rs 100 cr mark in 8 days.
After Anand L Rai’s Tanu Weds Manu Returns featuring Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan collecting Rs 150.77 in 49 days, the Varun Dhawan – Shraddha Kapoor starrer ABCD 2 collecting Rs 100 crore in just 17 days, Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan featuring Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan reached the mark in three days. However, despite being the dubbed version, yet another film that surprisingly made to the list is none other than the Prabhas, Tamannaah Bhatia, Rana Daggubati starrer Bahubali. The film collected a total of Rs 107.86 cr in a span of 28 days. Continuing the tradition of bringing ‘clean films’, Rajshri Productions also entered the Rs 100 crore club with their ‘family film’ Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, the very film that stars Salman Khan (in a double role) along with Sonam Kapoor and others. The film collected a total of Rs 101.47 crore in a span of mere 3 days.
After the last entrant to the Rs 100 crore club which were Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon that managed to collect Rs 102.65 crore in 7 days of its release and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani featuring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra that managed to collect Rs 108.70 crore in 9 days of its release. The latest film to make it to the exclusive club is none other than the Akshay Kumar, Nimrat Kaur starrer Airlift that collected Rs 102.76 crore in a span of 10 days.
